NOTES / LESSONS LEARNED

Importing people

Importing transactions and item donations. Don't overwrite good data!

Use self-registration?

- As items/packages are entered into GG, upload an image (rather than wait until the end)

- For Live package images, we used an App on macbook called CollageIt 3 Pro. It's not perfect, but Live packages sometimes need to include more than one image, and making a collage is the only way to do that.

Buy-Ins
- include date of event in email receipt

Bug in GG -- to run a search on people who have a cc on file (not report, just a search, when you want to enable online bidding) you select the checkbox next to the bidder section, but nothing else, and then you select "has a cc on file" in the sales and payments section.

Households -- Individuals should NOT be in a household. This happened during import, so we need to avoid. (Bug in GG, this should not be allowed.)

Bid Numbers -- somehow during the enable online bidder process, individuals were given online bidding when only the household had the bid number. This caused the individual to get a welcome text and a bid number like (9js877). Manually cleaned it up by making the household the bidder. This was in part due to a Bug in GG where you cannot search on supporters without credit cards on file. GG support led me through a workaround, but this was not perfect (didn't know until after enabling online bidding).

Editing Simple after Advanced - Once you have used Advanced edit on a page (Buy In purchase page, for example), you can no longer use simple edit or any advanced edits may be lost. There's a workaround, though, for making small changes. To change the name of page, for example: Open simple edit in one browser with a different login, then open advanced edit in Firefox with your usual login. Make your simple edit to the page name, click save. Then save your advanced edit window.

Thank you!
