All School Art

8:03 a.m.

This impressive piece of art will be sold at the GATHER-Epiphany event. The highest bidder will take home this magnificent and meaningful piece artwork while making an impactful contribution towards the event's fundraising goals.

Inspired by the works of Edward Tufte, 8:03 a.m. is a visual representation of where we come from before gathering for school each day. The Epiphany Pre-K through 4th Graders used acrylic paints to mix a color that makes them think of being at home, while the 5th Graders took a photograph of an inanimate object that makes them think of being at home. These dots were then mapped to the location of each student’s home. The concentric circles define 2-kilometer distances and are made up of the explanations the students gave as to why they chose the colors they did.

Dimensions with frame: 38” x 62” (vertical)

The background structure for the piece is Hahnemühle German Etching paper. The dots have been painted with acrylics. The 5th Grade photos were taken with many different cameras and reproduced on German Etching paper.
